I guess when you’re number two, you try harder….
Circuit City’s plan to save money by slashing its workforce by about 3400 makes as much sense as keeping your house warm by burning all the furniture. Sure, it’ll work, but where do you go when you need the expertise those laid-off people take with them?
I’ve never worked as a “Sales Associate,” but I can imagine what a day must be like: standing on a hard floor until the pain in your knees makes its way to your kidneys, listening to grumpy, ill-infomed know-it-alls who insist on telling you to bend the rules on delivery charges, and the list goes on. And I’m certain they make considerably less money per hour than the bean counters who decided they were expendable.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve just about had it with “Downsizing.” Let’s call it what it REALLY is: cutting off the corporation’s nose to spite its face. So long, customer service. Good luck, you 3400.

Interesting that you should mention this, Tammie - I was walking out of the convenience store the other day, and I noticed on one of the Alabama newspapers something like … “laying off 2400 school employees….”
And I thought to myself, “Now, who’s going to do their jobs?”
Can I get a big “DUH!”???
gah!
