Well, we went to a marble and granite supply store today, checking out what I want for my new kitchen counter tops — that is, if I win the lottery or sell the Cadillac!

You know how it goes. If you have to ask how much it costs, you can’t afford it! Well, let’s just say Marble Man wouldn’t even talk about price per square foot; he wants accurate measurements, choices on edge treatment, the whole nine yards — and then he’ll work up a total job estimate.

I’m really partial to Dakota Mahogany granite. First, the stone itself is drop-dead gorgeous, and second, there’s something strangely appealing to me about having the backside of Mount Rushmore in my house. Again, stay tuned for more details. This little kitchen project of mine is certainly taking on a life of its own.  Too bad auto accessories are so much cheaper….
