Virginia Tech and the nation are reeling from the worst mass shooting in US history today. According to news reports, at least 33 people were killed, another 29 hurt, in two separate locations on campus, and we’re all asking two big questions now: Why did this happen, and how could something like this take place in our post-nine-eleven society?
Details are still coming in, but clearly, this is just awful. What causes people to want to kill people whom they don’t even know? Why on earth did VT officials wait so long to cancel classes and clear people away from the danger zone? Will we ever know the truth?
Please keep those victims and their families in your thoughts and prayers. And let’s all hope that we can begin to figure out how to prevent attacks like this in the future.

It’s absolutely mind-numbing. I can even imagine the terror those people went through. It’s too horrible to even contemplate.
