Talk about going from the ridiculous to the sublime — or sublimely stupid, selfish, and just plain downright irresponsible!

By now I’m sure you’ve all met Andrew Speaker, the 31-year-old personal injury lawyer who decided to fly to Europe and get married, despite having a scary-bad case of almost untreatable and usually deadly tuberculosis.

That in and of itself is bad enough.  I mean, c’mon, as an attorney specializing in suing people for gross negligence and other stuff, he certainly should have realized that two trans-Atlantic flights, as well as several shorter plane rides, would put everyone on board into direct contact with a highly contagious illness — and open himself up to all sorts of future litigation.  Add into the mix that his fiance is among those potential victims, and a picture of a highly self-centered a**hole begins to emerge.

Now, as if this hot fudge sundae actually needed a cherry on top, FOX News is reporting that Andy’s new Father-In-Law works for the Centers For Disease Control — IN THE TB UNIT!  Crikey!

The guy (unless he checks himself out of the hospital again!) will spend several months in quarantine now.  Good.  Serves him right.  It’s as close to the pokey as he’ll ever get, no doubt.  As for those scared passengers and others now undergoing TB tests, I would suggest that they all just send their medical bills to Andrew Speaker, Esq., in care of the National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver.  But cough all over the paperwork first.
