Have you heard about the perfect pet for those folks who have more dollars than sense?
Meet the Ashera, a hybrid cross of an African Serval, an Asian Leopard, and a domestic cat. And it’s not cheap. This little kitty will set you back — are you ready for this? — $22,000!
OK, so it’s not exactly a “little” kitty. Weighing in at about 30 pounds, the Ashera looks more like a whippet in size. And the company reponsible for this genetic engineering feat says the cats like to go for walks on a leash and are good with kids and other pets like dogs, too.

Lifestyle Pets says their new breed requires no special treatment; it’s basically like having a very large tabby that only looks like a small leopard. But let’s face it: if you can afford to drop $22-K on a cat, you’re probably going to pamper it a little bit. And you’ll certainly want to choose the super-sized litterbox.
I’m an animal lover, and I readily admit these cats are beautiful. But there’s no way I would buy one, even if I could afford it. The pomeranians would be lunch!

Wow! Can you imagine the damage those claws could do to a sofa?! LOL It really is a beautiful cat, and I say that as a person who doesn’t even like them - I’m totally a dog person. I don’t think I’d even spend that much for a dog if I was rich! Well … OK, maybe I would. *snicker snicker*
LOL With a name like “Beagle,” I’m genetically encoded to be a dog person, too!
As for the sofa, part of the package includes those little vinyl nail covers — and a mandatory spay/neuter — so you can’t even get your money back!
If I had the money I would TOTALLY get one! I’m putting this on the list of things I will buy when I hit the big jackpot
OK — you get one, and I’ll come to Vegas to play with it!!
Ordinary moggies are much more fun. I think anyone looking for a cat ought to visit their nearest cat and dog home, or local equivalent, and pick up a homeless one from there.
You’re right, Baxter — shelter pets make great pets — and you’ll feel better about yourself for giving an animal a deserved home.
