I’m old enough to remember when watching TV meant standing on one foot while positioning the tin foil on the rabbit ears or turning the antenna rotor every time we got up, walked across the room, and turned the little knob to switch the channel.

What I don’t remember is routinely feeling like there was nothing on the tube worth watching.  How is it that, when receiving more picture than snow on four channels was a treat, we could always find a program we enjoyed, whereas now, remote firmly in hand, I find myself running up and down through about 60 channels, but finding nothing at all I want to sit through?

Maybe it’s just that my standards are a lot higher now; I’ve seen some of those old shows on TV Land and wonder why I ever watched them in the first place.   Or maybe I’ve developed a bad case of ADD.  I don’t know.  I’m just frustrated, I guess, and I’m sick of reruns.
