Archive for July, 2007

We just got a phone call that surprised and pleased both BJ and me.
About five years ago, we splurged on a ThermoSpa hot tub and have never once regretted it.  But for the warranty to remain intact, you have to use their chemicals, and they’re not cheap.  However, Lori, who always handled our needs with […]

Ooh, That’s Good!

We’re beginning to see the fruits of our labors from the garden, and frankly, it’s a little different from most summers.
The onions have all been pulled, and they’ve been so good, both while they were still small as scallions, and now as regular onions on hot dogs.   Usually, my onions don’t make it past […]

Marco? Polo!

Peter Walsh, where are you?
I have entirely too much stuff.  It would be so cool to have the folks from one of those declutter TV shows come to my house — even though I’m not sure I would want to share my mess with the rest of the world.
I know I have office furniture somewhere […]

It’s Finally Summer

Have you been following the high temperatures being reported this week?  My friend Julie lives near Las Vegas, where today’s predicted high is 106 degrees!  It’s triple digits in Montana, too, an area I tend to associate with snow and wind.
Then there are the forest fires.  I guess they call it “dry lightning” — thunderstorms […]

But Does It Clean?

Are you as confused as I am by the amazing number of choices when it comes to choosing among vacuum cleaners?
I’m old enough to remember when your basic choice was whether you wanted a cannister or an upright.  Then they came out with those power beater bar things for the cannisters and hose attachments for […]

So Sad

I just received some very disturbing news.
One of my friends from church lost her brother last night as a result of a motorcycle crash.  His passenger is in the trauma unit after they life-flighted her to a Pittsburgh hospital.
Please keep the Martelle and Mosti families in your prayers.

Way To Go, Clem!

I’m laughing so hard right now that I might have to check into picking up some incontinence supplies.
My brother Dave was just on the TV news.   He took his bloodhound Clem (you remember him from the birthday party, don’t you?) to a local dog show.  Guess what?  He WON!  Yep, Clem got a nice […]

Welcome Home!

Today was the day 65 soldiers and their families had been waiting for:  They’re back home from Iraq.
The 150th Aviation Battalion of the West Virginia National Guard touched down this afternoon after having spent the past year on active duty.  One soldier’s family had the Christmas tree up and the stockings hung for him.  Others […]

Now that I’m headed back to teach college again, I’m taking stock to see just how many pens, pencils, reams of paper, and staples I need.
Where do you go to buy office supplies?   If you’re like me, you’re always looking around for good products at a discount price.  That’s why I was pleased to […]

I’m Tired!

It’s good to be home.
Now that JR has installed our new breaker box at the campsite, BJ  and I have been going nuts up there, running wires for outlets, getting the insulation in the walls, you name it.  It’s been fun, but it’s a lot of work.
The weather cooperated with us, too; only a few […]
