Maybe this will work, or maybe not.
Those of you who read my blog regularly already know two very fundamental things about me: First, I have the patience of a gnat. Or maybe even less than that. Second, I know Jack Squat about computers.
My poor little laptop is dangerously close to going swimming in the Ohio River. I can’t even begin to tell you how frustrating it’s been over the past couple of weeks, but I’ve been able to limp along most days. For the past couple of days, though, it’s been so bad that I haven’t even been able to log on long enough to check my e-mail.
It’s NOT the DSL. I still have dial-up capabilities, and that doesn’t work, either. The doggone thing just locks up, giving me the White Screen of Death, then freezing there.
I’ve defragged, run anti-spyware programs, and cursed. I’ve even considered buying some more IBM memory cards. I don’t know what else to do. So if this post makes it to my blog, it’s a good moment. Just wanted to let you all know why it might just take me longer than usual to respond to any comments you might make. Or to let you know whether computers float.

Oh I hope you can get it working again, it would be awfully hard to blog while you are treading water.
Have you tried to blow some compressed air into the fan? It might just be dusty, getting hot, and slowing down. It happened to my laptop.
I just did that. We’ll see if it speeds things up — although in writing this comment, I DO notice that the screen is keeping up with my fingers now, and it didn’t always do that before. Hitting “submit” was virtually useless the first time, though.
As for the future of hydroblogging, I’m not sure it won’t catch on eventually, especially since it’s so darn HOT this summer!
