A Dangerous Job

Have you been watching “Ice Road Truckers” on the History Channel?

These guys are hauling equipment over frozen lakes in northern Canada to some diamond mines near the Arctic Circle, and they have to do it before the road thaws.   I think they’re nuts.

They have to drive slowly in 40-below-zero weather, all the while worrying about crashing through the ice.  The trucks break down.  The loads are oversized and over weight.  They do it anyway.

I’m sure there are a lot of dangerous jobs out there, but this one is outrageous.  If I were one of them, I think I would spend my down time dreaming about booking a nice Orlando rental home and taking the family to see The Mouse.

ooh, we saw the one where the truck crashed into the pick-up truck because he couldn’t stop. thankfully nobody was hurt. I like this show, but it doesn’t hold the same charm that Deadliest Catch does for me

Even though I LOVE Mike Rowe, I just can’t get into “Deadliest Catch.” Maybe it’s because I really enjoy plowing into a big ole pile of crab legs, and I don’t want to think about how they got here! ;-)
