I saw a story on tonight’s TV news that is making me nuts.
Apparently, there’s some sort of lawsuit before the courts in New York City right now that, if the plaintiffs get their way, will result in complete nutritional information being provided on the in-store menu banners at fast food restaurants so that would-be customers will understand that the fare they’re considering buying have a high caloric count. You’ve got to be kidding me!
Guess what, people — Big Macs are high in calories! So are french fries, Whoppers, and bacon double cheeseburgers! If you’re looking for Weight Watchers, look elsewhere!
I started smoking 30+ years ago, and now, I have emphysema. I knew the risks when I started smoking. Yes, it’s a filthy, stupid addiction, and no, I don’t like being sick. But I also know who’s to blame — ME! The warnings on the sides of the cigarette packs had no impact on me whatsoever.
Seems to me that people who are trying to lose weight or cut fat from their diets already know what they’re eating, and the rest of us can figure out with not too much effort that the grease dripping from our hamburgers isn’t exactly low-cal. When are people ever going to begin taking responsibility for their own choices?

The more time that goes by, the less and less responsibility people will take. It’s a sign of the times — a BAD sign. Everyone wants to blame someone else. It’s pathetic.
Unfortunately, Leigh, I’m afraid you’re right. We’ve become a nation of victims — and we all think the world owes us something. It IS pathetic!
