It’s been over a year now since the wreck, and BJ’s shoulder surgery still isn’t scheduled.
We have an attorney handling everything, and my settlement is in the negotiation stage right now. BJ’s case, however, is a different story.
It’s a real Catch 22. The other guy’s insurance company won’t make any payments until all the bills are submitted, inspected, debated, and approved, but the bills won’t all be in until the surgeon does his thing. Unfortunately, it’s been tough finding a surgeon willing to work without some sort of cash in advance. So here we still are.
I just hope we don’t end up needing a medical malpractice attorney New York, where my sister lives, has very different laws than we have here in West Virginia, where tort reform is the talk of every election campaign going — dog catcher to governor. Oh, well.
