Why is it that, when a company produces a quality product that works exactly as it should, they stop producing it?

This time, it’s outdoor fireplace tools.  Until 2004, Coleman made a fabulous set including tongs, a poker, and a shovel, along with a tripod stand and a vinyl cover.  I know it was until 2004 because I called the company to try to get another set.  They didn’t even have any left back in the storeroom.

Finding standard fireplace tools is easy, but these are both a lot heavier and considerably longer than those.  Also, with the wooden handles, we never had to worry about burning ourselves.

While scavenger hunts can be fun, this one just has me annoyed.  Sigh.
