Laughed so hard, I thought I’d die.
As you probably already know, BJ works at a bowling alley that also includes lazer tag, mini golf, a bounce house, three separate haunted houses, and more. They have a number of vending machines, too — from video lottery to the stuffed animal claw to the gumball machines.
Every once in awhile, somebody gets something from the machines they don’t want, and instead of giving it away or throwing it away, they simply drop it on the floor. Such was the case with what has since become a treasure.
Thinking it would make me smile, BJ presented me with a lovely necklace today. It’s a black nylon cord holding a little silver tube from which a plastic “crystal” cube is suspended. As I examined it, I noticed a little plastic tab that said PULL. So I did. Instantly, the cube glowed brilliant red from the laser light inside the little tube.
That was funny enough, but it’s nothing compared to Jolson’s reaction. She’s usually a very polite dog, but she was strangely attracted to this glowing red cube. I doubled the cord and slid it over her neck. She pranced.
Worried she might choke herself, I took it off and gave it back to BJ. Jolson looked so crestfallen; losing her bauble had broken her heart. So I told BJ to put it back on her. The dog actually smiled and stretched her neck out to receive it! She’s been wearing it ever since.
I’m sure the battery will be dead before morning, but for tonight, Jolson is Glow Dog. And she’s so proud of her treasure!

That is such a cute story!!!
An update: Here we are, nearly three weeks later, and Jolson is STILL sporting her fancy necklace. As for the neon red light, it lasted for about four days. I was wondering if it would ever burn out — and was considering pulling the battery for use in some other device!
