Easy Money?

It’s almost scary how easy it is to get credit these days.

It’s been years since I’ve applied for any loans, but the mail is full just about every day with credit card offers.

And that’s odd, too, because I got into some serious trouble several years ago with those little plastic things and had to get into credit counseling to stop the phone calls. Since I cut them all up and haven’t applied for any new ones, I’m not sure why I keep getting those letters of immediate acceptance. Still, they keep coming.

Through the years, we’ve had some personal loans for holiday gifts and vacations, a couple of secured loans for cars and such, and we considered even debt consolidation at one point — but they’ve all been paid off. We don’t even have a mortgage right now.

And since I can’t work for at least four months, I’m so glad we’re not into the bank for all of that money. We do still have a pile of left over credit card debt, and believe me, that’s quite enough. Maybe one day soon I’ll get a pre-approved offer from somebody who wants to pay them all off for me. Yeah, right.
