Addicted To Meerkats

I know it’s the whole “Circle of Life” thing, but I’m still upset.

Do you watch “Meerkat Manor” on Animal Planet? If so, you already know this; if not, you probably won’t care, but until I get this out of my system, I won’t be able to shake it.

Flower died. She was the alpha female of the group the show follows. Flower led the Whiskers group for four years, and she managed to make her family the biggest, most organized meerkat group in the Kalahari. It wasn’t so much that she died that bothered me as how.

The group had been split and was just reunited. They were finally finding food after the rains returned. And there was this little baby meerkat from another group that Flower had adopted instead of killing it. Then the cobra appeared.

Saving the baby meant driving off the deadly snake, which the group did, but it went into their den and threatened Flower’s own pups. In killing the cobra, she was bitten on the head. That just stinks.

The folks at Animal Planet have made this into a must-see for me. It’s like a soap opera, only better. And yes, I’m emotionally invested in it. I’ll miss you, Flower.

Oh I am so sorry to hear this. I even just called my husband and he’s sad. We always spend our Sunday’s lying in bed watching Meerkat Manor on our DVR. We were camping this weekend and are still getting caught up. This is going to be one said episode, and I’m kind of happy that I know before watching it. I would be bawling if this came as a big surprise on the show.

Oh my gosh! I loved Flower. Glad I missed
that episode though. Hate snakes!!! Can’t
stand to watch them on TV or anywhere. I
watch when I catch it and really do like the
    show.

I love their commercials. It must come on opposite of something else we watch, because I have only seen it once. I love Animal Planet. Sorry Flower died :(

Sorry to be the one to break it to you, Julie and Terri. But I’m sure the Whiskers will survive. It’s just so sad because we got to KNOW Flower, and not as just another desert rodent.

Yes, Deb, the commercials ARE really good. They always make me smile.
