I must own the biggest washer and dryer in the world.
If you remember, I told you all a few days before the accident that my washer had finally died after about 20 years of faithful service. Well, while I was in the hospital, they delivered the new one, only since it and the new matching dryer live in the basement, I had never seen it. BJ assured me it was nice, but that was about all I had to go on.
Anyway, now that I’m able to get around a bit better, I decided to do some laundry yesterday. The first load (whites) included all the unmentionables, several towels, sheets and pillowcases, about six blankets,…. You get the idea. The old machine would have required I split the whites into at least two, probably three loads. I crammed it all into this new washer — and had room for more!
I’m convinced that BJ and I together don’t own enough clothes to fill this thing. And the dryer is just as big. Oh, and it has an internal light that comes on when you open the door. They both echo when empty. (Yes, I had to try it!)
I really like the new washer and dryer. They do a good job getting the laundry clean, and two or three loads sure beats five or six!

I’m jealous that you got 20 years of washing and drying and my washer is ready to conk out after just 10
and my dryer is only about 6 and it’s on it’s way to death too. Evil things. I want to get a fancy set of front loaders with pedestals, but they are darn pricey. I’m hoping to have enough money with my income tax refund next year
Enjoy the new washer and dryer ~ and don’t go overdoing all this stuff. Take it easy.
And just how many people do you have living at your house, Retta?
With only BJ and me, we do the laundry once a week or so, and (NOW!) two loads will probably do it! No doubt you’ve washed and dried a LOT more loads than me since those old appliances were new!
As for the front loaders, I was talking to someone who has them. She says she had to buy the pedestals to save serious backaches while loading and unloading, and then she lost the “folding table” function she was used to on top because they were too high. I went with the standard top loading washer and swing door dryer. They’re just a LOT more capacity than the old ones.
And a little Tylenol is worth getting rid of the boredom, but thanks. I’ll be careful.
