Stinky Heidi

I’m worried about Heidi.

Our “bologna dog” has lost enough weight that she’ll soon be a “Slim Jim dog.”  She’s zooming right past being a weiner.

She’s also developing skin lesions and carrying an obnoxious body odor.  We’ve bathed her repeatedly, but she still stinks.

The poor baby never complains; she just wants to be close.  So we douse her in baby powder, which seems to neutralize some of the smell.  She has a good appetite, too, which is another reason to wonder and worry about the weight loss.

She’s 16 years old, and we know we won’t have her forever, but I’m not looking forward to that day at all.  Does anyone have any advice as to what might be wrong?  I can’t really afford a vet bill right now, but I want her to get better.  Any input you might be able to give would be greatly appreciated.

Oh no :( Poor stinky Heidi. What a pair we are, you with your stinky dog, me with my peeing cat. I hope you find the cause of the stinky and get her feeling better.

Thanks, Retta. She acts just like her old self — and she doesn’t seem to be in any pain. I just hope it’s nothing TOO serious!
