Stephen Colbert says now that Halloween is over, it’s Christmas. There’s a lot of truth in that.
First, though, it’s time this Saturday night to “fall back” for those of us living under Daylight Savings Time. I, for one, always look forward to the switch back to Standard Time. There’s something rather comforting about getting the chance to relive an hour. I also enjoy the extra sleep whenever I can get it.
It’s also time to change the batteries in those smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Remember to test them; experts recommend monthly checks. And if your detector is at least ten years old, you should replace it.
Stay safe, and Merry Christmas!

I wish it would just remain “standard” time all year long. It’s not worth it to change time anymore…
…and Merry Christmas?! Now, even for a Christmas enthusiast like me, that’s a bit early!
To be honest, I totally agree. We have friends in Indiana, and they really have fits because apparently, only part of the state changes while the rest stays standard. And so, as Chicago so aptly put it,
“Does anybody ever really know what time it is? Does anybody really care?”
