I’m not always amused when technology steps up and slaps me right out of my comfort zone.

Right now, I love my TV.  It’s a 36-inch flat screen.  It is NOT, however, a high def.

The doggone thing weighs about as much as a Buick, but since I’m not real big on rearranging the furniture, especially in the living room, I don’t care how heavy it is.  Besides, the extra tonnage virtually guarantees that nobody will pull it over on himself, or anyone else.

What upsets me about all this is that our cable company has promised to go digital and hi def by 2009.  That means I’ll have to spend a lot of money I don’t have to replace a TV I really enjoy just as it is.  And that’s not all.

I’ve never hooked up one of those fancy new plasma things, but the mere thought of figuring out which HDMI switches and how much Cat-5 cable I need appeals to me not at all.  Maybe I can get the cable guy to just leave me alone!
