A Great Evening

How creative are you while selecting gifts for those special people on your list?

I always try to put at least a little thought into the gifts I choose, but admittedly, some ideas work out better than others.

Most of my best gift memories are centered around my mother.  So many people have told me that they found Mom hard to buy for, but I never thought so.  I could always come up with something I knew she would enjoy.

I think my favorite was when BJ and I arranged to take Mom and Dad to a bed and breakfast for their 50th wedding anniversary.  Some friends of ours were managing the place, and we had the entire three-story Victorian all to ourselves.  One room had a hot tub, and there was this African Grey parrot in the parlor.  The bird talked up a blue streak.  We all laughed, admired the architecture,  and generally just ran around like we owned the place.  And breakfast the next morning was among the best I’ve ever eaten.

I’ll always be grateful to Bob and Andrea for making the experience so special for my parents.  And if I’m ever hard pressed for another spectacular gift, I’ll certainly consider another bed and breakfast gift certificate.  It was better than any hotel I’ve ever seen.

That read like a pleasant time. We’ve stayed once in a B & B and even if it was pleasant, the couple who owned the place were way too chatty in the morning, plus they had strict rules, like we had to be there by 8am for breakfast. We are not early birds, nor are we “morning people” so…
I’m happy I tried it once, but I don’t know if I’d do it again.

I know what you mean. I’ve never been a “morning person.” And that’s really weird when you consider that I worked as a morning radio host for a couple of years!
