I Think He’s Bipolar

We’ve decided that BJ’s surgeon is either seriously deranged or seriously distracted.

When we went in for the latest post-surgical follow-up yesterday, he walked in, looked at BJ, and said, “Let’s see you do this,” flapping his arms over his head as if he were doing jumping jacks.  We both just looked at each other, then at him, our mouths hanging open.  The last time we were there, he said not to move the shoulder, but to use the hand and arm from the elbow down for small tasks only.

Clearly, keeping that shoulder immobilized for the better part of six weeks had led to some pain and stiffness, so the calisthenics were out of the question.  Doc pitched a fit.

The physical therapist gave us several new exercises after we told him what had happened, and the change in mobility over the past 24 hours has been remarkable.  BJ has been working so hard to get better.  There may actually be an end in sight for this!  But now, I’m trying to figure out where in the house we should mount a pulley with some handles on it….

When I had to do some shoulder rehab (sport injury) I used the railings, instead of installing something “permanent”…

Please tell BJ for me to keep on working hard, it will pay off in the end. It is worth the pain!

BTW, I tagged you to do a little meme… come by to see what it’s all about.

BJ says thank you — but the pain still really blows!

As for the meme, check back — it’s coming!
