Our local ministerial association did a really nice thing last night.
The pastor at one of the member churches has a wife who is undergoing some very expensive cancer treatment, so the association got together and planned for a concert from all the choirs. In all, ten choirs (including ours) took part, singing music from our Christmas cantatas. Everyone did such a nice job, and it was a lot of fun.
The best part, though, was the generosity of the community who turned out for the event. When they passed the hat around, they had collected more than $4300 to help the family out.
Times like this remind me of how good and how thoughtful most people are. They don’t need any engraved plaques to say “look at me;” they just quietly offer support, love, and whatever else they can. Thank you — all of you — for helping to reaffirm my faith in the goodness of my fellow human beings.
