It’s been exactly a year since I first wrote a post and entered my activity within the blogosphere.
The reason I began this adventure is directly tied to my dear friend Marisa. She had, of course, been blogging for years, and she had told me many times about the money she made, the friends she met, and the fun she had sharing bits of her life. I listened politely (I think!) but didn’t really see myself as someone who could share her joy.
After all, I wrote for a living. Between teaching college English and working as a talk show host, news director, and webmaster for a radio station, the thought of writing consistently for a personal blog just sounded too much like a busman’s holiday. The LAST thing I wanted to do was more writing. I thought I needed some time away from the keyboard.
Then, in mid-February 2007, everything changed. I lost my job at the radio station, and the unemployment checks weren’t nearly enough to cover my bills. So, over a cup or seven of coffee, my neighbor set me up. I’m so glad she did.
No, I haven’t gotten rich with this blog, at least not financially. But I have gained a lot in other ways. Marisa was so right about the wonderful people who would stop by, visit, read and respond to my ramblings, and help me feel a little less worthless. She was also right about my need for a creative outlet to prevent mind mush. She’s so smart!
So thank you, Marisa, for seeing in me something I needed but didn’t know was there. And to all of you who have become my friends, I’m sorry I didn’t get to know you sooner. I can only hope that I’m returning some of the joy, love, and inspiration you all are giving me.
As I celebrate this first anniversary, I look ahead to the coming year, and I’ll try to keep being the kind of blogger you don’t mind returning to read. I’m truly blessed to know you all.
Love and Peace,
Tammie

Happy Anniversary! That’s quite an accomplishment! I enjoy the money part of blogging, but I also find it to be a good release (I can write my stress lists!) and a great way to make so many new friends, like you.
Happy Blogiversary!
I just blog “because” I enjoy it, and it does bring me a lot, like some good “blends” and that’s always welcome!
Keep it up!
Lynne and Stinky, you two are high on the list of the friends I’ve made here. Thanks to both of you — so much.
You know I love you, right? I’m so glad this worked out for you.
Of course I know you love me! You’ve lived next door to me for 19 years, and we still speak to each other. That’s TRUE love, Baby!
