Bird Brain?

I have to admit it:  I’m more than a little frightened by this latest development.

Every time I go into the bathroom now for any reason at all, the bird flies onto the top of my head.  No, really — he sits on my head and plays with my hair.  Then he flies back to his cage.

He never flies at BJ, and we all know how well that relationship is going, so I can’t really tell if this is an attack of sorts, or if the little darling has finally decided I’m not so bad after all.  No, I don’t offer him a finger to step up onto.  I don’t have time.

I’ve started calling him Launchpad.  BJ thinks the whole situation is just too funny.  Buddy is amazed that his own personal Animal Planet is now in 3-D.  The other dogs couldn’t possibly care less, one way or the other.  I’m just confused and a little suspicious.

So far, he hasn’t tried to bite me unless he feels himself slipping, and then it’s just to catch himself and not to be mean.  Of course, he’s quick with that sharp little beak.  I just hope he doesn’t get up there and squirt.  Eeewwwww!

Okay, my first thought was that he was landing on your head and pooping! Good to know that’s not happening. Now, as long as he’s not pulling all your hair out, I guess that’s a good thing?! :-D

Maybe the bird is happy to see you? just let him do or does it hurt you?

He has a way with you, it’s obvious! ;-)

It’s really pretty sad to think that the bird is smarter than I am. I guess that’s what happens when all he has to do all day is eat, poop, and plot strategy!

That’s what I’m still trying to figure out, Richard. He’s usually nice when he decides to fly my way, but he’s drawn blood so many times, I’m still not sure.

Sounds like he likes you. I have several pet birds and they have a tendency to land on your head when they fly to you. I suspect it’s because it looks like the most stable place to land.

Last month I had some friends over to play games, they both got landed on by Cockatiels who then started to preen their hair.

Wow! Thanks, Josh. I’ve never had a bird before, so reading the signs is still new to me.

All I know is that it really hurts when he bites my ear.
