The Little Critic

Astro the evil psychobird is a music lover!

Our quartet is learning some new music, and I’ve been listening to a few of the numbers online to help with the memorization.  There’s this one song in particular that he really enjoys.

Since I’ve never owned a parrot before, I’m not all that good at reading the subtleties of his body language,  but in general, it’s fairly easy to figure him out.  If he likes you, he’ll cock his head to one side, make a little clucking noise or say “hello,” and possibly step up onto the finger for a ride to the shoulder perch.  If he doesn’t, he’ll draw blood and scream bloody murder.

He also seems to become easily distracted (bored?) after a minute or two and wants to fly back to his cage.  Unless, that is, I’m playing that one song.  Then he’ll sit quietly on my shoulder, listening intently, and eventually bouncing up and down with his little happy dance.

So far, I’ve only seen him react this way to this one song.   When it comes to other tunes, he can take it or leave it.  I just hope he doesn’t decide to take up conducting; we would have a very limited repertoire!

Glad the differences between when he likes something and when he doesn’t aren’t too subtle! So, what’s the song that he likes?

I guess when your brain is the size of a pea, subtlety isn’t high on the priority list!

Here’s the link to the song:

Must be cute to see him boping along… much better than ripping your hair out or screaching!

If I had a digital video camera, I would show you.
