The First Cut Is The Hardest

Have you ever noticed how events occur in groups of threes?

At least that’s the way it’s always been in my family. Births and deaths are the big ones, of course, but everything seems to come as a set of triplets. This time, it’s repairs we need to take care of around the house.

I told you before about the oozing water leak around the toilet. It’s much better now. The ceiling light in one of the bedrooms isn’t working. Hopefully, it’s just a loose wire or some other easy fix. And now, we really need to replace a broken pulley on the lawn tractor that makes the blades spin.

The grass needs cut so badly, and the thought of using the push mower is making my head hurt. I can neither walk nor breathe easily; emphysema and a broken pelvis will do that, and BJ’s shoulder isn’t quite back to normal yet, either.

I’m not complaining, mind you — at least it’s not shoveling snow — but it’s just one more thing on an ever-expanding To-Do list. Oh, well. At least this is Number Three. Maybe things will settle down a bit now.

UPDATE:  BJ and I just mowed for the first time this year — with the push mower.  We took turns making laps around the yard so neither of us would overdo it.  The job usually takes about forty minutes this way, but because it was so high, it was about an hour and a half.  Ugh!

I believe home ownership is one continuous cycle of fixing things!

I think I’m going to have to buy some of those masks to wear over my mouth and nose for when I mow the yard. I mowed last weekend and couldn’t breathe the next day. The pollen count here in Dallas is so high anyway, add flying grass into that and it’s a disaster!

Yeah, I know. This place was built in 1923, so we get to do LOTS of little things all the time.

Good luck with the pollen. I’m hacking and snorting myself!

I agree that things always seem to happen in three’s. Very strange. Great site.

I can’t believe you’re cutting grass already! The snow on our deck just melted, it’s still wet, and we are far from seeing the grass in the yard!

Heidi, it’s great to meet you. Thanks for your kind remarks!

Stinky, I’m glad you guys are finally thawing out. I can’t wait to see pix of Montreal in the springtime!
