I Wanna Go Outside And Play

It’s time to stop whining about the weather and get outside to play a little bit.

This afternoon, BJ and I went out to work on getting the garden ready to plant.  We have a small raised bed that’s separated from the yard with three or four courses of stacked bricks.  We took it all apart, cleaned out a bunch of gravel and dead plants, and put the bricks back so they were no longer falling over.  (The dogs love climbing in and out of the dirt patch.  Go figure.)

On Thursday, after my class and BJ’s physical therapy,  we’re going up to the lake to open the camp for the season.  Despite cleaning up a LOT of leaves last fall, we know to expect several more bags full, along with some winter erosion and early weed growth.  Hopefully, there won’t be too much damage from the raccoons and chipmunks who take up residence whenever all the people leave.  We shall see.

The guy who owns the campground keeps promising everyone that he’s going to build us a laundromat.  I fully expect to see another soccer field or a skate park with a trampoline first, but maybe he will surprise us.  I just know it’ll feel so good to sit around a campfire, eat some burgers and dogs, and dream of warm summer days on the water.  Oh, yeah.

Every year I say I’m going to build a raised bed. Every year comes, and no raised bed! Oh well, I’ll just use pots! :-D

Oh, Lynne, we love it! The yield is so much better, and the tightly regulated size keeps us from overplanting (always a big temptation).

I would love to sit around a fire, especially on a nice cool night, by the water - tHAT is life! Enjoy!
