A friend sent me an email today, alerting me about a disturbing new trend, and I just had to share it with you.
The high gas prices are, it seems, leading some people to the back end of your car. Stealing license plates, putting the tags on their vehicles, then filling up and driving off without paying is becoming a real problem. The gas station attendants are trained to quickly take down plate numbers from drive-offs, so the thieves are one-upping them by hanging the crime on the poor schmuck whose tags they’ve lifted. And if it’s your plate, you will be the one to see the cops show up at your door with those fancy silver bracelets. No gold bangle here!
Most folks rarely take the time to make sure the license plates are still on their vehicles, but you really should check on them regularly. And if your plates are missing, report the theft immediately. You’ll be glad you did.

The worst part about this, is that I’m sure it is only the begining of things to come because of gas prices. Around here a lot of stations went to the “prepaid” method when you fill up, because too many were driving away without paying.
Good tip, thanks for sharing…
Unfortunately, Stinky, I think you’re right. Folks are getting desperate because everything is so much more expensive — but the paychecks remain at the same levels. Something’s gotta give soon!
