One of the more interesting (albeit mildly amusing!) side notes about working at the College turns out to be my office phone number.
You see, there’s an Affordable Dentures office somewhere sharing my number. So my phone rings, and when I answer, it’s somebody wanting some new chompers.
I don’t do dentures.
I’ve started playing Directory Assistance with them, though. After I explain that they’ve reached the Faculty Offices at West Liberty State College, I suggest they try dialing the number with a 1-800 instead of no area code or a 304, which is our state.
So far, it seems to be working. But I’ll never understand why folks wanting new dentures always seem to want them at 7:30 in the morning. I’m just glad they’re not in the market for some skimpy swimsuit!
That’s gotta be annoying!. I read a story once where a company that makes fridges destined for milk bars and supermarkets accidentally printed a small local plumbers 1800 number as the contact number for the manufactures repairs and service’s, it cost him thousands to sort it all out.
Fortunately, Ty, it doesn’t happen often enough to be too annoying. That said, though, the thought of other people’s teeth isn’t the most pleasant thing…
